Course Outlines
Module 1. Budget purposes and assumptions
Translate operating objectives into documented volume, price and resource assumptions. Distinguish a budget, forecast and actual result and record who owns each assumption.
Module 2. Cost behaviour and classification
Classify direct, indirect, fixed and variable costs within a case. Explain how activity changes affect total cost and avoid treating a simplified assumption as a universal rule.
Module 3. Building an operating budget
Prepare a linked sales, resource and expenditure budget using supplied templates. Check arithmetic, timing and consistency between departments before presenting the budget.
Module 4. Variance analysis and action
Compare actual results with budget, investigate price and volume effects, and identify controllable factors. Write an action report with an owner, due date and a measure for follow-up.
Methodology
FSMQC uses instructor-led explanation, guided discussion and course-specific applied practice.
Build an operating budget and explain three significant variances using a short corrective-action report. Use a knowledge check and an individual task. Approve the assessment rubric and completion criteria before delivery.
Assessment follows the approved course requirements and individual practical tasks.
